Concerns raised about leaflet referrals
As a Section we are aware of the concerns that practitioners have been raising regarding the leaflet that is being handed out at various registries up and down the country when a death is registered advertising The Bereavement Advice Centre.
As a Section we have taken this up jointly with the Wills and Equity Committee to express our concerns as we believe that this is actually a leaflet leading people to ITC Legal Services. The General Registrar has been in contact with me again to advise that it is not a matter that the General Register Office can pick up.
If we wish to make representations as practitioners then this is something that will need to be taken up with our local registry offices. There is an increasing groundswell of concern that has been expressed with a number of letters and emails being sent to the General Registrar.
If you wish to voice your individual concerns about this then you will need to contact your own local registrar. The Section and the Wills and Equity Committee are pursuing this further on your behalf.
