How to join the Private Client Section

The Private Client Section (formerly Probate Section) is one of four committee-led, representative membership associations of the Law Society, which represents and regulates solicitors throughout England and Wales.

Established in 1998, the Private Client Section provides best practice information and support to those working in the fields of wills, financial planning, trusts, tax planning, Court of Protection, care planning and estate administration. An executive committee is responsible for developing the future strategy of the Section and enhancing services already offered to members.

Full membership is restricted to solicitors and trainee solicitors. Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEXs) who work in a firm with an existing Private Client Section member can apply to become an associate member, allowing access to all member benefits. However, FILEXs can not stand for election to the Executive Committee.
